Discover how researchers are addressing crucial challenges in pregnancy-related pharmacovigilance to better protect both mothers and their unborn children.

Medicines safety during pregnancy requires special attention, as it must take into consideration both the pregnant person and their unborn child. Unfortunately, safety profiles of medicines used in pregnancy are often incomplete, and pregnancy cases in pharmacovigilance databases are hard to identify.

In this episode of Drug Safety Matters, data scientists Sara Vidlin and Levente Papai, and Senior Pharmacovigilance scientist Lovisa Sandberg discuss these challenges, and how they are addressing some of them with the development of a new pregnancy algorithm in VigiBase.
